I'm trying to remotely maintain one of these servers, and while I can FTP 
changes to the server, Hotline doesn't read the changes.... and I can't 
edit the News from the client.

Help! Please! My news area is a mess, and it's only 5 days old.

Ah, but you can with b21, which will be out sooner or later, and if it is
more like later, I'm sure that Adam Hinkley wouldn't mind if Andrew was
given a pre-release of the server so that this could happen.

	What fun I have been having. Internic never received my payment for the 
Roadfeldt.com domain and shut it off. I have been talking with them to 
get it turned back on. In the mean while I have created 2 new domains 
which are all set to go. They are roadfeldt.net and roadfeldt.org

The machines are still here. They are again tracker.roadfeldt.net and 
hotline.roadfeldt.net or .org and .com as well.

I hope that you can spread the word. I apologize for this. I have not 
abadoned hotline, just some major problems with Internic. :-) Please send 
the people this way again!!

How many connections do you want your server to support?  How many 
simultaineous downloads?

On a 604 processor, given enough bandwidth, you can support at least a 
hundred connections, if not 200.

Would Hinks like to organize a stress test? We could put hotline on one 
of the 8500s at school and see how many people we could get to log on...

b21...if you go on Macline and into the Hotline folder, there is a file
called b21 pics.sit that has pics from b21.

"index the file area" is very easy to say, but what exactly do you mean?

Grab a copy of all of the file names and maybe the comments too?  Why 
would that be any faster than asking the file system directly?

Hotline will not use the standard buttons etc until Apple get off their 
butt and release a decent API for consistent user interface (eg, an 
Appearance Manager would be nice).

Unfortunately, Apple created the Window Manager and Control Manager quite 
a long time ago and they haven't been updated (except for bug fixes)

Because almost anything is faster than asking the slow, 68K-code file
manager to do a search. Skip the comments, though.
