I was disappointed of that problem. This disturb is specially present when i'm on a site with many users logged on and therefore with frequent logins and logouts. Is there anyone has this problem ??? Maybe the person hacked your server by guessing the Admin >Password. That is the most likely thing. Next time use a VERY obscure >password like maybe your name and then a huge number (Kevin8596). That's not very secure. Something like FSPyNZYKifWIh3oqG0wo is good. b21 now randomly generates a default password like that one when you hit New User. ........................................................... /| _ / | | | Adam Hinkley | |_| | CEO/Software Development | _ | O T L I N E | | | |COMMUNICATIONS hinks@netspace.net.au |_| | | http://netspace.net.au/~hinks/ |/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: The Hotline Users Digest #47 - 02/28/97 From: Adam Hinkley Date: Mon, 3 Mar 97 10:43:30 +1100 >his handle is Kinetico . This is not a problem with Hotline - rather your video card is not a particularly good one. Let me guess, you have a Performa? There is a special type of task in the MacOS called a vertical blanking task. This task is responsible for refreshing the screen display. To have absolutely no flicker, a program would have to draw itself in between two refreshes. However, the refresh occurs at least once every 60th of a second, resulting in situations where the screen refreshes while the program is only half finished drawing. This results in the disturbance you see. So there is nothing I can do about it. The only solution is to get a better video card. ........................................................... /| _ / | | | Adam Hinkley | |_| | CEO/Software Development | _ | O T L I N E | | | |COMMUNICATIONS hinks@netspace.net.au |_| | | http://netspace.net.au/~hinks/ |/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Toolbar Idea From: Adam Hinkley Date: Mon, 3 Mar 97 10:24:48 +1100 --Emailer_-1323952364 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Attached is a picture of a toolbar. About hilite on mouse dowwn... why don't you use a classical pressed button? Since the button looks like a button, most user will expect it to act as a button. Would be different on a toolbar like... how is it called?... the one on Hotline's web page... Oh, and there's no button for tracker window. Why not? flip ____________________________________________________________________ Philippe (FL!P) MARTIN mailto:flip@bart.fr http://www.bart.fr/~flip/ Rejoignez CITADEL EF-France http://www.citadeleff.org/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: hotline b20 causes disturbs on my monitor From: Kevin Ballard Date: Tue, 4 Mar 97 15:00:14 -0500 >I have noted that when i'm running hotline client (and only in that >condition), some disturbs may appear on my screen, as small degauss or >refresh (visible) of the screen. >I was disappointed of that problem. >This disturb is specially present when i'm on a site with many users >logged on and therefore with frequent logins and logouts. >Is there anyone has this problem ??? Hinks will review your icon and if he thinks it's good it will be included, and if it is included you can't claim it as "your" icon you cotributed it for the hotline comunity to use. Two, every server can't be included with hotline either the big main one's allready are. Three, I'm getting tired of people saying that everyone should d/l "XXXXXX face file" you aren't going to get everyone to, so why use an icon that most people won't see? I've met people that follow someone's lead and don't know that 90% of the people can't see thier icon.
