Phil notice that "CHAT WINDOW" headline... =) Maybe this would be hard to impliment, and maybe people don't think it's worth it. However, if Adam gets borred, he can always work on an upgrade tp the chat...(and include this, plus the alteranting colors idea). :) >To Do list:...check-boxed stuff to >accomplish during te particualr meeting. >is it me, or is this puching it waaaaaaaaaaaay too far? :) Fine, Mr. Smarty pants... . Maybe this could be in The "Pro" version! (snicker, snicker =) ) Seriously, here: put it on an idea list for a Pro edition. >>* Server info box: > >The tracker will have an info area I'm not really talking about the tracker here. Oh, sure. It *is* fine the way it is. Just, if hinks has extra time on his hands (:p), it seems more natural to me. However, with private rooms coming, the matter may be moot. >do you have actual feature suggestions for the pro version >that would *not* go in the non-pro version? The window positions and sizes ARE remembered for the next time you start up Hotline. Note that if a window is partially off-screen, it will be pushed on-screen. Also, if you run multiple copies, the saved positions will be from the last client you quit. If you want different positions for different clients, put each client in it's own folder with a copy of the prefs file. ____________________________________________________________________ Adam Hinkley, developer of Hotline ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: my 2 cents on few recent threads From: Date: Mon, 3 Feb 97 22:48:15 -0800 >* Helper App: the ability to specify helper applications to unstuff or >decode documents. One *could* just ask StuffIt Expander to "watch" the >download folder I suppose (workaround) I would agree with Kevin that it is a work around, what if one has another folder that they need to be "watched" do i now need 2 copies of stuffit expander? That feature could easily go with internet config and would be really useful. My opinion on the raging hidden toolbar debate: It needs to be hidden chat news etc. should stay viewable but the toolbar doesn't need to be seen from anyother application, but hotline, since hotline is the only place that it can be used where as chat text etc. should be viewable because one might see something that needs would prompt them to switch back to hotline. One more thing and Perhaps this is what the tracker would be. But I'd like to see something that would allow users to check out admin supplied info for a server to which the user is currently connected to. Like maybe just a text file in the server folder called "server info" and it could give info like e-mail contact, a server's mission statement or whatever and most of all a name, because it's sort of difficult to get out this sort of info to users with out using the agreement which annoying and typically bypassed. Hinks-Despite my nitpicking I think you've done an outstanding job w/ hotline. -Dustin- AKA:Isley ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: my 2 cents on few recent threads From: Adam Hinkley Date: Tue, 4 Feb 97 18:15:04 +1100 >>But I'd >like to see something that would allow users to check out admin supplied >info for a server to which the user is currently connected to. And in b20 (most likely) you'll be able to view text files from within hotline. ____________________________________________________________________ Adam Hinkley, developer of Hotline ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: question From: "Mike Richards" Date: Sat, 1 Feb 1997 09:27:44 -0800 (PST) >Anyways, is there any plan for improving the chat on Hotline? I think there >should be some kind of list that says who is in the room, and it should say >when someone enters or exits. AOL AOL AOL!!!!! AIEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! we must not go the way of the clueless AOL interface. however, i think it *might* be convenient to have a second user list or something of who has their chat window open, but this would probably just add ANOTHER window and would require a lot of extra programming and sh*t which could be better spent on other stuff(ie, the list of 67 thuings that i sent) and the current system of messaging the person and telling them to open chat is working fine for the time being...perhaps hinks could add a /list type feature which would list all of the people who currently have their window open? P.S. could hinks send a list of things he currently intends to add to hotline in the future each week or something so we won't be talking about stuff that is already "on his to-do list" over and over? --------------------------------------------------------- Get Your *Web-Based* Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com --------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- End of The Hotline Users Digest --- Internet Message Header Follows --- Received: from macline.fwparker.org by bertrand.ccs.carleton.ca (SMI-8.6/SMI-4.0) id EAA17096; Tue, 4 Feb 1997 04:02:17 -0500 Message-Id: <199702040902.EAA17096.17096@bertrand.ccs.carleton.ca> From: The Hotline Users Mailing List To: The Hotline Users Mailing List Subject: The Hotline Users Digest #24 - 02/04/97 Date: Tue, 4 Feb 97 03:00:01 -0600 Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain Precedence: Bulk X-ListServer: LetterRip 1.0 by Fog City Software, Inc.
