Anarchie 2.0.1 (1103k)is an FTP and Archie client. It will let you browse FTP sites, download files, or find them using an archie server.

Fetch 3.0.1,(931k) the latest non-beta release of Dartmouth's Macintosh FTP client, now includes such features as multiple connections, bookmark lists, AppleScript support and Info-Mac/UMich mirror support.

Eudora Light 3.02 (1900k) is often touted as being the best Internet e-mail client for the Mac, and is certainly among the most common.

LeeMail 2.0.6 (515k) is a shareware Macintosh e-mail program that can use both the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) and the Post Office Protocol version 3 (POP3) to send and receive mail. LeeMail requires MacTCP.

Claris E-Mailer 2.0 Demo (4131k) A 30 day trial of the latest email client from Claris Corporation. Great drag and drop capabilities and a nice clean interface.

Stuffit Lite 3.6 (871k) Stuffit Lite creates compressed files for transmission over the web, onto floppies, or simply for archiving. Lacks several features of StuffIt Deluxe, but is still a must have utility!

Drop-Stuff 4.0.1 (673k) Installer for DropStuff with Expander Enhancer 4.01, shareware from Aladdin Systems! Create stuffed self-extracting archives, or BinHex files from Finder.

Shrink Wrap 2.1 (389k) ShrinkWrap is a freeware utility made to manage disk images on the Macintosh. You can create disk images by simply dragging and dropping your floppy drive icons onto the ShrinkWrap icon, etc.

Sparkle 2.4.5 (1134k) Sparkle, plays MPEG and QuickTime movies and can convert movies from one format to the other. Using the familiar Quicktime interface, it provides a handy way for Mac users to view MPEG movies.

Microsoft's 3.0a (5200) web browser. Very fast and stable. Automatically tracks every site visited and keeps an extensive history. The best alternative to Netscape, and possibly the best browser for the Mac. This is the minimal version - browser only.

Netscape Navigator 3.0.1 has become the industry standard for web browsing, Usenet newsreading, and e-mail clienting. Sorry Microsoft!!

NSCA Mosaic 2.0.1 PPC (1086k) The fading, yet still alive, Web browser alternative. A 68k-only version is available here.

NewsWatcher 2.1.5 (909k) is a free Macintosh Usenet news reader. It allows you to easily subscribe/unsubscribe, print, reply, follow up, save articles, etc.

NCSA Telnet Version 2.7b4 (345k) is the final release of for the Macintosh.

CU See Me 0.83b3 (408k) is a video teleconferencing program that allows you to see and hear the person you are talking to. It allows you to view multiple people at a time and actually carry on video conferences with them. Does not require a camera but it is probably best that you have one.

Free PPP 2.5v3 (589 K)The final update of 2.5, this has new versions of all four parts of the FreePPP package.

Mac PPP 2.5 (174k)If all the new versions of MacPPP are giving you trouble, the original, official version s still 2.5.

Global Chat 1.3 (587k)is the first easy-to-use real-time chat software that can be used from the World Wide Web. It is not a web page for so-called web-chatting using certain Web servers. Instead it is a standalone program that works together with your Web browser to give you instantaneous live chat

Ircle 3.0b (1mb) is an Internet Relay Chat client for the Macintosh. With handy windows for multiple channels, the names of the current users on the channels, etc. The most stable IRC client software available, IMHO. Shareware. Good instructions are available, from within the program.

Homer 0.94 (890k) allows you to participate in live chat sessions with people over the internet.

BBEdit Lite 4.0 (799k) is a freeware derivative of BBEdit 4.02, the popular and critically acclaimed text editor for programmers, HTMLauthors, on-line-service users, and anyone else who needs to edit plain-text files.

HTML Web Weaver Lite 3.0.1 (1081k) is an application designed to help you create World Wide Web pages using an easy yet flexible interface.

HTML Editor 1.1.3 (1007k) is a semi-WYSIWYG editor for an HTML document featuring the insertion of common HTML tags through button clicks, menu selections, and key strokes.

PageSpinner 1.1.2 (1173k) is a semi-WYSIWYG HTML Editor for Macintosh. It supports both HTML 2.0, parts of HTML 3.0 plus several Netscape extensions and is useful for both the beginner and the more advanced Web author.

Sound App 2.2.3 (829k) A fine sound playing and conversion program. SoundApp can be used with Mosaic and Netscape for sound playing. Supports many file formats as well as true 16-bit playback and stereo playback. Operates on minimal memory, and best of all --freeware!

Blue Skies' 1.1 (206k) main focus is to provide an interface to interactive weather animations and other weather information. From the Groundhog menu, choose Groundhog Server to get started.

TurboGopher 2.0.3 (258k) is the fastest way to browse the resources available in Gopherspace.

Disinfectant 3.7 (224) Disinfectant 3.7 is the latest release of the free anti-viral utility for the Macintosh.

NiftyTelnet 1.1 (258k) is a freeware telnet client that is designed to be reliable, efficient and easy to configure. A 68k-only version is available here.

Graphic Converter 2.9 (1843k) GraphicConverter converts almost every graphic format of Macs, PCs, Unix-Machines, Ataris, etc. into almost every other format. Registered users can manipulate the pictures in many ways.

Jpeg View 3.3.1 (800k) The most popular image reader for the Mac. Reads, jpegs, gifs, you name it. A great tool for viewing images downloaded off the web.
